Main Chronology Page

The following are annotated chronologies of the HIV/AIDS crisis in China. The information presented in these chronologies is taken primarily from Chinese media and journal sources and supplemented with western news and academic sources. Since the majority of the Chinese media outlets are overseen by Chinese governmental agencies, the material supplied not only reflects Beijing’s position on the different issues surrounding HIV/AIDS in China, but also the extent of  its acceptance of the AIDS crisis in China.

Not only does this chronology combine the information in the four-issue specific chronologies, but also tracks official HIV statistics and the overall trends as China confronts the AIDS epidemic.  Currently there are over 200 articles listed.
